Planning a Healthy Pregnancy
A healthy pregnancy often begins before conception. A few simple steps in the months leading up to and during pregnancy can support both mother and baby.
Before you conceive
- Start folic acid at least a month before trying to conceive.
- Review any long-term medicines with your doctor.
- Bring conditions like diabetes, thyroid, or blood pressure under control.
During pregnancy
- Eat a balanced diet rich in iron, calcium, and protein.
- Stay active with gentle, doctor-approved exercise.
- Avoid tobacco, alcohol, and self-prescribed medicines.
Stay in touch with your doctor
- Attend every scheduled antenatal visit.
- Complete the recommended scans and blood tests.
- Report bleeding, severe pain, or reduced movement promptly.
